Stops All Traffic
Oakland, Cal., Oct. 29. Oakland 's
traffic paused, halted and then, block

centers today while Mrs. S. A. Lemon
swept the crossing with a household
broom.
Traffic officers remo'tistratcd with
the .woman who insisted that Oakland
needed elcauing and she was going to
start in right there. After much ar
gument, during which jitnly Imses,
street cars and general traffic waited,

ami took her to the detention ward of

THE MARKETS
Wheat is firm again in the Portland
market, which ives assurance that for
the present the S3 cent a bushel price
will be paid here. When tho price
weakened a few days ago, farmers all
through the state refused to sell.
Kggs are still scarce, with piices
running from 88 to 40 cents.

less than a few days ago.
Pork is showing some signs of weak
ness, with prices today at 5'i to 0
cents.
