Although tomorrow is Columbus day,
and is observed in many states as a
legal holiday, there will be no observ
ance of the day in Salem. The banks
will nil remain open, the mail will be
delivered at the regular hours and the
business of the city will keep on in its
regular way, regardless of the fact
that Columbus first saw land 523 years
ago.
