While Olc Scverson was engaged Inst
Thursday in helping to fill a new silo
recently completed by J. H. Engeman
on his ranch near this city, he took a
28-foot fall, and although being ren
dered unconscious by the fall for a
time, escaped without breaking any
bones and is again apparently as well
as ever. Mr. r-everson is a man over
65 yeurB of age. It seems that it was
the custom of Mr.- Engeman to put up
a long ladder for the men to come
down on, but Mr. Severson wanted to
get-down without the aid of a ladder,
and while trying to swing himself down
with a rope to a staging which was six
feet from the top of the silo, the rope
came untied and threw him to the
ground below'. In his flight downward
he struck the corner of a chicken coop
and almost wrecked the building.. He
rolled to the ground unconscious. Dr.
Keene was immediately called, exam
ined the man and found that no bones
were broken. Wituin a short time
after the accident he got up and walked
to an automobile and was taken home.
