' j Mrs. Solomon Smith, who died at her home on Water street last Wednesday 1 morning,was one of pioneer women of this community, having come to Oregon from Missouri in 1847. She is mourn-1 ed by a large circle of friends, who! sincerely Bympnthizo with the family! in this time of grief. She is survived by her husbnnd, four children and one brother. Tho children are: Mrs. M. D. Rnmsby and Irwin Smith of Hilver ton; Mrs. Amy Cowing of Portland; and Harvey Smith of Mt. Angel. Fun eral services wero held at the home on Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. , Albyn Essen, pastor of tho Christum ! church, and interment in the Silverton I cemetery.
