Frank Fergu son, former financial manager for Eev. Newell Dwight Hillis, today made pub- :11" correspondence, in which the Fly- ln e"uren aa mmea at ac- tion against him for misuse of funds. Forguson challenged Hillis to go ahead, implying that he really needed to continue with a clear beaded man' ager. He also replied that Hillis had ' blundered in his dealings, and that all possible had been saved by Ferguson from the wreckage. In this letter, Fer guson pointed out that he had not claimed $11,000 still due him from Hillis. "All rot," was the reply of Attorney Charles Lark after a consultation with his client, Hillis. "It is not true that ililhs was a million dollar plunger." The pastor confessed from his pulpit last Sunday that his ambitions had led him away from his ideals. Hild's announcement at Portland, Oregon, that he would become general manager of the Denver Tramway system, appeared likely this afternoon to precipitate a big row in that organization. Clause Boettcher, chairman of the board of directors, admitted that this 'premature publicity is embarrassing. Despite his denial yesterday that Hild is to have the place, it was learned to day that Vice President John A. Beeler. who is also general manager, is to be discharged and Hild elected to his place Monday unless secret plans of a ma jority of the board are abandoned at the last moment. Clark, Dodge and company of Phil adelphia bankers for the tramway as wen as tne Portland lines Bre backing Hild. It was rumored that Beeler, on the other hand is organizing interests friendly to him for a fight which will possibly be carried into the courts. Beelcr's objection to "nenr side" stops in the face of directors approval and popular approval thereof was hinted at as one reason for Beelcr's removal. However, bis friends suggested there will be sensational, charges of looting, if he is ousted. Six Women Indignant Over Beauty Advertising . San Francisco, Sept. 24. Six women at a local hotel are very indignant. They have been press agentcd all over the country as "six beauty contest winners" from Ohio. They aro from Ohio all right but they are not beau ties. What is more they deny being pretty and confess to ages running all the way from 40 to 75. Their whole visit to the fair has been all but spoiled by misinformed cities and societies fry ing to dine and wine them as belles when they deny being belles at all. "The wholo thing started when Ohio wished six beiuitv contest winners on our party," snid Miss Cecelia Wagner, aged 50, 'today. The press agent got busy. But the beauties couldn't go. One took sick. Another missed her train. Still another got married. Fire Thought Incendiary A large burn belonging to O. O.
