Tho bears had the best of it yesterday in the Portland markets and wheat prices were wcaV.. The mills arc paying 80 cents today. While Portland is quoting 25 cents for strictly firsts candled eggs, the ex perience of several who have shipped to commission houses has been very unsatisfactory. There seems to be .a method of- candling in Portland by which few might come under the heading of firsts, while, a greater part, of tho shipments como under, the wire' us seconds, at 20 cents a dozen.
