A STATEMENT.
I noticed in the newspapers that a
foreclosure suit has been filed against
myself and wife for the collection of a
uUcgod, debt of ifs5.S5. I huve no oth
er knowledge of this suit nt the present
writing only from what 1 have rend in
the newspapers. There has been no
lien filed on the Aiitomobilo mi papers
of the court has been served on me.
For that reason, 1 wish to state, I do
not owe .Mr. Ilildcbiiiml any such bill.
My car was ruined while in his garage
last Summer for repairs ami 1 was de
prived of the use of it for months, Mr.
lllldebriind agreed to put the car back
in shape for use ot his own proper cost
of expense, This is evidently the bill
lie has transferee! to Mr. Svkes, and lie
iknuus 1 do not owe him this amount
'from the fuet he never presented me
'with a bill nnd inilde no effort to col
! lect this from me. Mr. Sykes I never
had any business with, but he must
Ihuvo also known the debt was not of
!u .just nature for be has never iniide
'any effort to collect it from mo. The
'attorney, who kept his own name from
.being mentioned, and is not. known to
me, at present, must huve taken the col
lection of this bogus debt on u contin
'gent fee contract the kind that reads.
, so much if I collect and so. much more
if J sue for collection and he needed
the "so much more" 1 am of the opin
ion, for he did not extend the courts
,nor myself the courtesy of making an
effort to collect this bill by making
just one pretense of nilleeting It with
out going into court. . lie is certniiily
'not doing very profitable nr legitimate
practice "At l.nw" or he would not
follow such unileihiinded methods.
The whole ease looks lo me like
Sykes wants an auto for nothing nuil
some shyster attorney wanted if:i5. to
pay tils ir.st month's grocery bill. No 1
rcnlly don't believe that, for such a
man is not of the kind that pays his
own bills. He is the human hog that
roots his living iu the barn yards of oui
