cabinet members having gone home to

voto he will return to Washington to

NEW ROUTE NOW OPEN
TO COOS BAY SECTION
The Willamette Pacific Railroad will
be completed and in operation under
the construction department as far as
Mupleton effective November 1st.
Trains leave Eugene at 8 a. m., ar
rive at Mnpleton 11:30 a. m. Leave
Mapleton 1:30 p. ru. arrive at Eugeno
at 5.
Boat connection daily between Mnple
ton and Acme and Florence. Bangs
Livery Company will operate auto stags
between 1'lorenee and Umpqua River,
connecting with Drain auto stage line
from Umpqua to Marshfield, this serv
ice being daily ami commencing about
November 5th. The schedule will be
entirely governed by the tides and they
expect to put paesengers from Maple-
ton to Marshfield through on one tide,
but state that this can be done only
three or four times a month without
stopover at Florence. Weather condi
tions on the bench will also govern.
ONE COPPER LADEN
STEAMER RELEASED
Washington, Nov. 3. British Am
bassador Sir Cecil Spring-Rice notified
thn state department today that one of
the Italian steamers loaded with a cargo
of American copper which were held
at flibroltnr had been allowed to pro
ceed to Italy.
The Kroonlaud, nnother of the vessels
stopped at Gibraltar, he stated 'as not
seized, but merely "dotnincd." British
Foroign Minister Sir Edward Orey, it
wns added, promised to make a complete
explanation of Kroonlnnd incident. On
a protest from tho Btate department
several days ago the Kroonland was al
lowed to continue her voyage.
DESTROYED TURKISH TOWN.
London, Nov, 3. Destruction by the
Hrit.it h cruiser Minerva of the Turkish
town nf Aknhn, Arnhln, on the east side
of tho Oulf of Aknba, wns announced
by the admiralty today.
When the Minerva arrived' off the
port, it wns said a force of Turkish
troops, apparently under a Herman of
ticer's command, was guarding the
town. The cruiser shelled the place uu
tli the soldiers were compelled to evac
uate it, when a liuidiim party went
ashore and completed the work of de
struction by demolishing the postoffice
an other buildings.
The nilmlrnlty added that there woro
no llritish disunities.
