WILLAMETTE BEATS ALBANY. ting Convll, Under and Bailey into the lineup, stopped the AkiiU'S from dolnir further duuiuge, although they were dangerously near the Multnomah lineup iiioio than once. j Even with these three stars in the lineup the Multnomah score of ll wns not directly attributable to them, but rat hex to an Aggie misplny. Willamette University's footbnll team walked away with the opening inter collegiate contest (Saturday by the one sided score of 44 to 0. Th j game was a little slow and too one-sided to be exceptionally interest ing. The Albany team, which had been together tor only one week, fought fiercely to check the Willamette onrush but wns hopelessly outweighed and out conditioned. The 'vnrsity lineup was almost en tirely composed of new men. Ilonnti, Klegel and Bolt were in the contest for only a short period ench, their accus tomed stations being turned over to the second string men. The opening (pinner netted Willam ette two touchdowns, Bolt featuring in this period with a (iO-yurd jaunt on a tackle around Albany's right end. Pfnff wns also accorded the privilege of es corting the ball some little distance Inter in the period, pluciug it between the uprights after sipiirming through some 30 yards of broken field. The sconnd period Willamette stuffed the entiro time and, failing to make ynnlage, limited repeatedly, Vie.kery, one i f the new hiill'biicks, booted the bnll for neat margins over French, the Albany punter. Twico during this per iod fur the only times in the game Al bany made yurdage ngninst the Car dinal nnd Hold. The third iiiarter found the Albany team just about nil ill nnd bocnusc they seemingly couldn't help it the Willmn- itte backs waded through them f0 three touchdowns in this period. In the final period the scoring con tinued, tho Albany line being pierced tor two more touchdowns, and the game ended with the third one not far off, the ball resting on Albany's ten yard line when the whistle blew. The poor condition of tho Albany men and the fact that it was necessary to take out timo repeatedly, took con siderable life out of the 'varsity eleven. As far as results that will beuct'it the team in the .future, the game was an absoluto failure. The Albany team could not compare favorably with the Willamette second string and tho com plete case with which they wore haa died by 'varsity men will serve to in crease their confidence rather than to mnke them work harder or give them profitable experience.
