Grants Pass box faetory is to resume
after lying idle four .years.
The August term of tho circuit court
for Polk county, which will nave its
commencement under the supervision of
Jndgo Holmes on Monday, August 3,
promises a tedious session for judge and
jurymen. The docket will contain over
10(1 eases, of which 44 will bo actions
for money, these causes occupying the
major portion of, the clerK's calendar.
There will be some 10 foreclosure
proceedings, about the same number
of actions to quiet title, 15 divorce ac
tions and the balance of the timo, asido
from the two indictments now ponding
and the chps to come before the grand
jury, will be devoted to appeals from
the iustiee court, replevins, accountings,
dissolutions of partnership and petty
cases of a similar nature.
The retrial Of Davis will, perhaps,
develop more of interest than any of
the criminal cases. Prosecuting At
tnii.nv Sihlev. who assisted in the first
trial with Attorney Upjohn, will no
doubt present a stronger case against
tho accused Uallston murderer than the
defense can expect. Davis will need
to stand on the original cnarge ot mur
der in the second degree, the maximum
penalty being sentence for life.
The grand jury will convene on July
.'10th, and it is expected that those now
awaiting their action will be greeted
with indictments charging theft or lar
ceny. Observer.
