Rudell, the young bank clerk who left
The Dalles following the issuance of a
warrant charging him with embezzling
funds from the Moose lodge, and whoso
body was found in the Rainier hotel
here Monday night, did not commit
suicide by taking carbolic acid, but
died as the result of concussion of the
brain, is the decision today of Dr Dan
ner and Dr. Frank Wood, appointed cor
oner to make a post mortem examina
tion." It is ndw-believed he was either
sandbagged or' struck with some other
heavy instrument. The physicians found
that no carbolic acid had passed the
man's lips. '
In a postcard addressed to his wife
found on Rudell 's body he stated1 that
h had been attacked by four-tramps,
beaten and thrown into a boxcar.
This statement was accepted as true
by the police today, although it was
at first believed to have been a halluc
ination, as the postcard was worded is
a rambling fashion.
