James Martin, of Gervais and Agues
Kittsen, of St. Paul, secured a marriage
license this morning. The prospective
groom appeared at the county clerk's
office last Saturday for the license, but
was refused for the reason the other
party was only 17 years, 11 months and
28 days old. Her birthday was cele
brated today, howerver, and the young
man was granted the license.
Property owners on Court street, west
of i Commercial, complain that sawdust
and debris left from the Moose carnival
still encumbers the street, and that the
street committee pays no attention to
their requests that it be removed. It
would seem that there has been time
enough to have this street cleaned up
but maybe the chairman has not yet de
cided whether the mix is proper.
The beautiful grove of firs on the
half block belonging to Secretary 01-
cott, at the corner of Commercial and
Lincoln streets is being cut down and
then cut up into fire wood. The big
oaks next to Commercial street will be
left.

A test of a traction engine and sev
eral gravel cars will be made on the
Silverton road as soon as material for
road building can be arranged for. The
Puiffalo Pitts firm is to make the test,
and, in the event the outfit is found
satisfactory for hauling gravel and oth
er things, the county will purchase the
same.

Sedgwick post, and he died May 2.1,

In order that the heating plants in
the Grant and Lincoln schools may be
installed in time for use next fall, the
board of school directors last Saturday
night engaged Architect Fred I.egg to
draw up plans and specifications, and
the work will commence as soon as pos
sible. The architect will receive .1 per
