jour thousand years before the Savior
come, no suction had been made re

from tills earth. The paradise of
Eilwi, lost through disobedience, and
r:n,r imago In humanity, almost
obliterated by sin and death, God
promised to restore. Tho right to life
forfeited by Adam for himself and his
race, God purposed to restore la an
ihn willing and obedient. But all these
liipulnes were to come through a Re
deemer, tlio Mediator of the New Cove-
nniit. the Messiah,
Humanity kuew not the possibilities
nf Restitution, but Israel had the fact

Ijiw. Thev realized not that this
satisfaction of Justice would be ac
couinllshcd by the death of tho very
Redeemer who subsequently would be
the Restorer.
Their minds naturally dwelt espe
cially upon tho great fact that Mes
cluli was to be of Jewish stock; and
that Israel was to have tho first chance
of the choicest blessings In connection
with Messiali's Kingdom. As they
nulled fnv Messiah and Ills Kingdom,
they fondly anticipated their own na
tional blessing. Seemingly, they over
looked the fact that the blessing would
be an Individual one, In harmony with
tho Divine arrangement. They hoped
for a resurrection from the dead "at
the lust day," In tho great Seventh
Thousand-Venr Dny or Epoch, and ex
pected It to bring them from the sleep
of death back to earthly conditions.
Somo of them hoped for a "better
resurrection" than the majority, be
cause of their loyalty to God and theli
willingness to suffer for righteousness;
but even these expected to be, not an
gels, but men. AVas not Abraham him
self promised that nil the land which
he could see should, eventually, be his?
What could this mean except that ho
would be resurrected, as an earthly
being, to enjoy this promised Inheri
tance? St. Stephen points out that
Abraham never received, In fulfilment
of God's promise, as much of that
land "as to set his foot upon." (Acts
ni, 5.) Undoubtedly, therefore, the en
tire promise of the land Is future. The
possession will come to Abraham, and
will be given to his seed, his posterity,
after him.

The Heavenly Maneiom.
Tho Lord endeavored to draw tho
minds of Ills followers away from tho
earthly hopes of an earthly kingdom
which they held In common with all
Jews. Tho dlsclpios knew of various
orders of beluga on the augollo plane
Cherublm, seraphim and ordinary an-
gcis. uesun rnauu no suggestion of
changing His disciples Into any of these
angelic orders. Rather, He gave them
to understand that they would consti
tute a new order of creatures. The
questions then naturally arose, Is Micro
a possibility of having a still different
oruer or licings on tho Heavenly plane?
Did not tho creation of man a little

rlety of creations on the angelic plane
ana nigner f
Theso questions would seem proper
enough; and to these our Lord's words
make answer: "In My Father's House
are many manslons"-raanv anart-
menta, many divisions. Yet all are
holy, ull aro In full accord with Illm
and with each other. "I go to prepare
place for you," My followers-a
neavenly mansion,
St. Teter, discussing the subject, tells
us that In God's providence the Church
Is not only a New Creation, hut a cren
tlon on a higher plane than any other
of God's creation. St. Paul says, that
our Lord Jesus, having finished the
work which the Father gave Illm to do,
"ascended on High," to the right hand
of the Divine Majesty, to the place of
chief favor. Ho declares that this po
sitlon is ''fir abovo angels, principali
ties and powers and every name that Is
named." Epheslans 1, 21.
St. John, speaking of the Church, de
clares that wo may not yet fully appre
ciate what we shall be, but we may
"know that, when Ho shall appear
our Redeemer, we shall be like Illm
for we shall see Illm as Ho Is." (I John
111, 2.) St. Peter, however, tells us the
real height to which tho Church, the
Bride of Christ, Is to be exalted. He
says, God hath given "unto us exceed
ing great and precious promises, that
by theso working In us His wMl we
might become partakers of tho Divim
nfl(;-c."-ll Peter 1, 4.

transaction Involved all sahsemient

Growth In Grace.
Mistakenly, lu the past, ninny of us
have supposed Justification to be the
goal of the Christian merely tho for
giveness of sins. Now wo see that
this was a great mistake. Now we
seo that Justification by faith Is only
a stepplngstono to sanctltlcatlon-the
begetting of the Holy Spirit as New
Creatures in Christ. Moreover, we
see that, even our sanollllcatlon by the
begetting of the Holy Spirit Is not
ulllclent, nor our goal.
The Spirit-begotten ones must prow
In grace, In knowledge, lu nil the fruits
and graces of the Holy Spirit. They
must be tested and proved as to their
loyalty and faithfulness. Fiery trials,
testings, tribulations, must be allowed
to come against them to provo the
depth mid sincerity of their lovo for
God. Graciously, their testings are
not along the lines of the flesh, which
Is acknowledged to be Imperfect, weak,
and which Is acceptable as a sacrifice
oulv through the merit of Jesus. Their
testings and acceptance are according
to their mind, their will, as New Crea
tures In Christ.
