Off to Hreltcnbush
Jack Whltlach, Hal Henderson,
Fletcher Long, Homer Foster, Ellis
Hill, Dave Eyre, Gordon McGUchrlst,

pose two pleasure parties leaving the
city today for the Brcitenbush hot
springs and Marlon Lake, to be gone
10 dayB or, two weeks. The parties
go by train to Detroit and from
there will go by pack train over the
mountain to the springs. They will
take their own camping outfit and
thus get all the pleasures, as well as
the discomforts of camp life.

Two Burglaries Last Sight
Two burglaries were committed In
Salem last night. The house of Bert
Jermnn, at 372 N. Winter street was
entered by some unknown person
and a few small articles taken. The
house of Dr. O. V. Ellis, at 245 S.
Winter street, was also entered, a
watch and other small articles being
among the things stolen. Entrance
in both cases was had through a
window.

Sheriff J. E. Ferguson, of We
natchee, Washington, has notltled the
police department of this city of the
operations In that city of one S.
Scope, a Jew, who poses sb a Junk
dealer, and who has suoeedud In
fleecing several citizens of that city
by moans of fake deals. At that
plnce he presented a card represent
ing himself to be a dealer In Seattle,
secured a large number of pelts,
gave a check on a bank where he
1'ad no money and left for Seattle.

Hazel Llddoll Saturday from Elbert
D. Llddoll, on account of desertion.
The marriage of Hazel Llddoll, the
same person, to Earl Murnahan, was
declared void as at the time of this
marriage Mrs. Llddoll was tho legal
wife of Earl Murnahan. At the time
of the second marriage, Mrs. Llddoll
alleges that sho was Informed and
had good reasons for believing that
her former husband was dead.

Two suits were filed In crcult this
morning by the Salem, Kails City &
Western Railway Co. One was against
the property owners on Union street,
from Front street west to the Willam
ette river. The railroad company seeks
to ascertain by condemnation proceed
ings the amount of damages done this
property by reason of the elevation of
the railroad grade to a height of 4.23
foot at the east hank of the river, and
the slope by a two per cent grade
from there to Front street. Some time
ago this company sought the raising of
the grade at this point, nnd It was
thought thut the company would set
tle with the property owners for the
extent of the damages done. It seems
as though no settlement could be af
fected, hence the bringing of this Buy.
The other suit is for the condemna
tion of lots 8 and 9, block 2, Knlght'B
addition, owned by Carl O. and Luella
1. Engstrom and a amall (trip of land
adjoining this addition owned by E. P.
McCornack. Ths will enable the rail
road to effect a Juncture with the
