There are SI precincts In the coun ty and so far 29 have been tabulated. This paper has previously announced the persons nominated for most of the offices where there was little or no doubt, but the representative ticket has been In doubt as well as the nominee for assessor. A count has been made from the official re turns ot all the remaining 22 pre cincts, except that of Mill City, which we have only unofficial. When com pleted the vote will show that Geo. W. Johnson, and George W. Weeks are nominated beyond question but the vote we are not able to give at this time. The third name on the representative ticket will be S. A. Hughes with 1753, and I). C. Thorns with 1698 votes, will be the fourth on the list. As the count made by this paper now stands, James G. Hcltzel has a total of 1696, with Dr. W. Carl ton Smith 1694. It is barely possible that the final count to be made by the canvassing board may change the figures a little, thus It Is not certain at this time which will receive the nomination, Smith or Helt.el, on ac count of the fact that Mill City pre cinct Is unofficial. ' With Mill City us unofficial, West has a lead of 86 votes over his op ponent, Gille. Gllle's vote is 1186 and West has 1272. For the last few days the race between Gllle and West for assessor has been undecided, first one and then the other leading. Labor and Employer Are at War. n.VlTBD IMIKSS l.BIStD WIHU. Spokane, Wash., April 23. Spokane today Is on the verge of Industrial war as a result of the fight over the open shop campaign of the employers. Following the open shop order of the Puilldlng Trades contractors, union men are walking out by scores today. (Continued from Page 1.) that the petitions contained sufficient fraudulent and fictitious names to bring the number of signers below that required by law, and Issued an Injunction restraining Secretary of State Olcott from placing the title of the bills on the ballot at the general election, but this will now be done and the appropriation will lie? voted upon. o CROWDS VISIT BUGHTHEATRE Knch week sees Increasing attend ance at the HUGH theatre, for Salem Is awakening to the universal de mand for VAUDEVILLE, entertain ment. Americans are an uneasy race. They demand something new, some thing unexpected, and in VAUDE VILLE. Yesterday's matinee at the TUIgh was witnessed by a large crowd who frankly proved their apprecia tion by applauding every number and laughing with the humorous situa tions In vaudeville and motion pic tures. In the past seven days the Illlgh has shown to over 7000 people. This a guarantee of Salem's quality show. The new bill Is opened by Guilfoyle and Hosom, comedy enter tainers. They do very clever work. Their jokes are all liew and well re ceived by the audience. The head liner on the bill Is ELECTRO, the human dynamo. It seems impossible; nevertheless It Is true that 1800 volls of electricity pass through this num. so heavily charging his body that It Is possible to Ignite pieces of paper or light a candle by merely touching them to his body. In plain words, un believable without seeing. No funnier motion picture than 'The t.nugh on Dad" has ever been shown at the Illlgh. Another rich comedy Is "Fly ing to Fortune." Then conies Shamus O'ltiien as h two-reel special feature, founded on Samuel lever's poem .list after the war In the Year '98 As soon ns the boys wor All scattered and bale o llepnillated Confession, fUNiTsn mess i.kki wnm.l Stockton.
