MOST DISTINGUISHED AMERICAN.
An Oregonian headline says "T. R. Thirsts for Distinction." t
Well, can that be truly said of the most distinguished Ameri
can citizen? '
If our country possesses a more distinguished citizen than T.
R., please name him. ,
Please name one field in which he has not distinguished him
self? Next to Roosevelt Wm. J. Bryan is probably the most distin
guished American. .
Neither of these men needs the presidency of the United States
to become distinguished.
Our country is big enough, the issues and interests are great
enough to entitle it to a great man for president.
Men who do not need honors or money or jobs or distinction
are fit for president.
The Capital Journal believes if left to the people direct one or
the other of these men will be elected.
o
The leading Salem churches will be occupied by business men

The "Little Soldiers" in
a Big Battle
They the white corpuscles in the blood called
'little soldiers' had a desperate fight with the
germs, or whatever may be the cause of eczema, and
would have been badly beaten but for the help of
Hood's Sarsaparilla. Doctor said the sores under
my right ear were the worst he ever saw, and for
16 months his medicine would not heal them. Id
agony I asked my druggist what would cure me, and
he said Hood's Sarsaparilla. I watched the ef
fects of three bottles, and found such great improve
ment I took one more and was completely cured.
The soreness went down, the germs were routed,
the little soldiers and Hood's Sarsaparilla were
triumphant. My health has never been better than
since my cure." C. C. Bailey, Champaign, IH.
The matter of expense In the
ease of sickness is one the well-to-do
family, which can afford
physician and nurse, la not
obliged to consider. Most fami
lies, however, cannot seek relief
without regard to cost. They
must be careful of their means.
They are Intelligent, prudent,
economical men and women,
the bone and sinew of the coun
try, and they have been guided
by common sense in availing
themselves of the remarkably ef
fective, easily obtainable propri
etary medicines which have done
so much good. Thousands know
by experience that Hood's Sar

medicine for the blood, stomach,
liver, kidneys and bowels, has all
the medicinal, curative and tonlo
merit that its makers claim for
It. There Is no real substitute.

Therefore, it Is not merely for our
