Governor West today honored a
requisition from the governor of
Washington for C. I). Hession, who is
wanted In Lincoln county for an at
tempt to bribe an officer. He was lo
cated In Portland, and will be taken
to Lincoln county for a hearing.

The chief of police and city record
er will be busy all day today Issuing
warrants for 15 or 20 persons who It
is al'eged broke the city ordinance In
reference to the sped rate of automo
biles yesterday, It is not possible to
get the names of the offenders, but It
now looks as though there will be
"something doing" for the Joy riders
of yesterday.
To Improve Kir Street--
The property owners along Fir
street In South Salem have been par
tlcularly active In securing a mac
adamized Improvement on that street
Prof. S. Z. Imrtlcy has been the
moving spirit and has worked hard
to get the petition properly signed.
The petition Is now completed and
will be presented to the council to
night asking for the Improvement of
Fir street with crushed rock. This
will make another line street In
South Salem.
Roys Found Guilty
The bIx boys arrested for disturb
ing a religious meeting were found
guilty In Justice Webber's court Sat
urday, and wore given the minimum
sentence, 30 days In Jail, The sen
tence was suspended during good be
havior and, as tho boys deserve to
have a fair shake, The Journal with

Hurt In Collision
A collision occurred Saturday even
ing about 5 o'clock on Commercial
street between S. D. Armour, mounted
on a bicycle, and the delivery auto of
the Salem Ice company. Armour was
knocked down and severely bruised,
and was hurt Inwardly, but not seri
ously. r
I'et't Larceny
The police huve arrested Jim Heals
accused of robbing several roomers
at the Owl rooming house. Lately a
number of thefts have been commit
ted at this place, and the officers now
believe they have the thief. He will
be given , hearing In the recorder's
court today.
Changes In Fire Department
Some changes are being made In
the fire department, beginning today.
Kldon C. Churchill, , Roberts Muths
and Ivim Wood have been put on ns
full paid men by the fire and water
committee of the city council, their
service beginning today. Mr. Wood
will be stationed at the EiihI "aleni
station and the other two stationed
at fire station No. 1. Walter Church
Ill, formerly captain of the East Sa
lem station, has been transferred Jo
Btatlon No. 1 ns hoseman, and will be
succeeded in the East Salem station
by Everett Fisher, who was former-

Phoenix, Ariz., April 1. A general
corporation bill, denying the right of
two or more concerns to operate un
der the same name was Introduced In
the Arizona legislature today. The
measure further provides that the
name of the corporation must define
the nature of the business it will na-
dertake. Failure to conform with
the provisions of the bill, will, In the
event of Its passage, furnish grounds
for a dissolution suit by the state.
