To Improve Kir Street-- The property owners along Fir street In South Salem have been par tlcularly active In securing a mac adamized Improvement on that street Prof. S. Z. Imrtlcy has been the moving spirit and has worked hard to get the petition properly signed. The petition Is now completed and will be presented to the council to night asking for the Improvement of Fir street with crushed rock. This will make another line street In South Salem. Hurt In Collision A collision occurred Saturday even ing about 5 o'clock on Commercial street between S. D. Armour, mounted on a bicycle, and the delivery auto of the Salem Ice company. Armour was knocked down and severely bruised, and was hurt Inwardly, but not seri ously. r I'et't Larceny The police huve arrested Jim Heals accused of robbing several roomers at the Owl rooming house. Lately a number of thefts have been commit ted at this place, and the officers now believe they have the thief. He will be given , hearing In the recorder's court today. Changes In Fire Department Some changes are being made In the fire department, beginning today. Kldon C. Churchill, , Roberts Muths and Ivim Wood have been put on ns full paid men by the fire and water committee of the city council, their service beginning today. Mr. Wood will be stationed at the EiihI "aleni station and the other two stationed at fire station No. 1.
