HIS MOTHER
Corvallls, Or., March 21. That the
last victim of George Humphrey, al
ready charged with four murders,
was his mother, is alleged here to
day. Mrs. King, his mother, died sud
denly some weeks ago. It was said
she died of paralysis. It Is now al
leged Humphreys may have poisoned
her.
It Is being urged that the body of
Mrs. King be exhumed and a search
for poison instituted.
According to George Humphreys'
brother Charley, the former mur
dered Mrs. Ella Griffith, George Sel-
by, William King, hl stepfather and
John Damrose during the last six
years. Charley admits he was an
complice In the Griffith murder. -

turned a verdict In favor1 of Isaae Har
rls and Max Blanck, proprietors of the

Judge Seabury decided that the de
fendants already had once been in
Jeopardy, and all pending Indictments
against them were dismissed.

States customs officers today seized
most of the personal effects of Mrs.
Blanche M. Carson, the San Francis
co society woman who committed
suicide by hanging here yesterday af
ter being arrested on a charge of
smuggling valuable Jewels Into this
country.
The belongings were transferred to
the appraisers' store rooms, where
they will te held pending the arrival
of Mrs. Carson's brother, Paul May-
bury, from Los Angele3.
