He says that the men were misled Into the crime, and that he Is convinced that If they were giv en the privileges of "honor men". they would observe the trust nlaced in them. He does not ask for a nnr- ole or a pardon for them. The other letters are from men prominent In the affairs of Grant county and they ask for either a parole or a pardon. The letters hf.ve all been turned over to the parole board, but no ac tion has been taken with relation to them. File Declarations. George Swegle, of Salem, has filed his declaration to be a candidate on the Democratic ticket for assessor. In the declaration he states that "he will make an equitable assessment on all property In Marlon county subject to assessment under the existing laws." J. C. Pettyjohn has filed his declar ations to be a candidate for nomina tion on tho Democratic ticket for rep resentative.
