C'Ren Favors Plans
Secretary of State Olcott today re
ceived a letter from W. S. U'Ren, of
Oregon City, saying that he favored
the plan of issuing a pamphlet giving
the history and explaining the Ore
gon system, and that he had often
thought of writing one, but had not
had tho t'me. Oleott's plan was to
have some young man prepare one,
and have It printed and placed on the
market.

Visits Salem Friends
Miss Mabel Skinner, daughter of
Representative Skinner, of Manitou,
Colorado, Is visiting Mrs. Dole on
South Eighteenth street. It will be
remembered that Mr. Skinner had the
honor of introducing the "Oregon
measure," the initiative and referen
dum In the Colorado house, while a
senator of the same name brought It
before the senate. The name must be
lucky, for the measure carried. Miss
Skinner Is delighted with Salem.
