Blosser, husband ot Grace Blosser, whose body was found Wednesday in her home, confessed today that he attempted! ho rob the Sellwood bank Monday and assaulted the aged Jani tor, Peter Jensen, and confessed also that he assaulted the bookkeeper In the basement of the bank last Novem ber. Blosser was arrested today at his home In Sellwood, a suburb of Port land, by Detectives Coleman and Snow, and ait headquarters made a written confession to both affairs. Following Blosesr's arrest and con fession the police are investigating the peculiar circumstances surround ing the dearth of Mrs. Blosser. Every effort has been made to show that the woman has committed suicide, and the explanation has been made that she took prusslc acid, but prusslc acid acts Immediately, arid no bottle of any kind can be found in the room in which the acid might have been conveyed, say the police. Her body was found by Mrs. Mabel Blos ser, a sister of Blosser, when she called at the home Wednesday after noon. As soon as the man confessed he was asked whether his wife had com mitted suicide. The man, became con. fused, and, after stammering at while, said: "Well, there were other reasons than that of her death." The police assert, that he was seen to leave the house shortly before the woman's body was found. They told Blosser that every effort would be made to ascertain whether the wo man dledi by her own hand or was murdered. Blosser says he attempted to rob the bank because he was "hard up." L. Hackett, fake secret service man, who was later sent to the pen tor im personating an officer, is the defense of Frank L. Wlestllng, a candidate for prosecuting attorney, and now facing disbarment, Witnesses testified that Wlestllng got them into his office, and that he and Hackett threatened them with revolvers until they promised to sup. port Wlestllng's candidacy. San- Francisco, April 1. Albert J. Honry, a clerk in the Seattle National bank, today secured a writ of habeas corpus ordering Pearl Wlckhoff, a San Francisco nurse, to produce his children, Albert and Ivy, In court here next Tuesday noon. Henry was awarded the custody of Mb children recently when he se cured a divorce from his wife, Anita. Henry declared the children ' were spirited away and placed in charge of the nurse, pending an appeal of his case to the supreme court. PACKERS Chicago, April 1. Ten Chicago packers, indicted for violation of the Sherman anti-trust law, filed late this afternoon demurrers to the gov ernment's action. They set up the claim that the act ls invalid in that It fails to clearly define what is criminal under the law, and that its wording Is so broad that proper en forcement of its provisions Is Impos sible. Mrs. Blanche Powell today confessed to Captain of Detectives Wall a long and intimate association with Dr. Lewis Clark Chisholm, who is held in Santa Rosa for the murder ot her husband, John D. Powell. The wo man made her confession after a long "sweating" at police headquarters here. Mrs. Powell, however, denied that she had any knowledge of the murder of her husband, and main tained that if he had been killed to secure a $2,000 insurance she ls in Ignorance of the facts, njftra. Powell was taken to Santa Rosa today by Sheriff Smith, where she will be brought face to face with Chisholm. Woman Breaks Down. Sweated by the police, Mrs. Powell declared that it was at Chisholm's sugegstion that the $2,000 policy on Powell's life. wasdrawn up with her as the beneficiary. She refused to explain why she made the last pay ment on the day Powell was killed, five days before it was due. Mrs. Powell declares she burned the policy because she feared her ac quaintance with Powell would get her into trouble, and she did not wish to have any evidence about which might connect her with her husband's death. Either Bullet Fatal. John W. Powell was found mur dered tn a tent In Coleman's gulch near Fort Ross early in March. Two bullet wounds In the head was responsible for his death. A revolver was found near his body, but an In quest showed that either bullet would have caused death, making It impossible for Powell to have com-' mitted suicide. Miss Venice Dean, a trained nurse was responsible for Chrlsholm's arrest She told the po lice that Chisholm tried to gain her consent to assist him in collecting an old insurance policy. When she re fused to enter Into the arrangement she stated that Chisholm replied that he would get "Blanche" to assist him. This furnished the police with the clew that the murder was com- mitted with the motive of collecting Powell's life Insurance policy. In vestigation showed that he carried a $2,000 policy. Several days later Chisholm was arrested and the police endeavored to connect him with Powell's murder. Chisholm Indignantly denied all knowledge ot the crime, stated that he had never seen Powell and that he never had been in the vicinity of Fort Ross. Denied Knowing Each Other. Several Sonoma county ranchers were then brought to San Francisco and positively Identified Chisholm as the man who accompanied Powell when the latter applied for shelter at (Continued from Page 4.)
