Weakly, by Mail, per year l.M Six month: FULL LEASED WIRE TELEGRAPH REPORT SALEM'S GREAT HORSE SHOW NOW OflLY OfJE WEEK AWAY WILL BE "GREATEST EVER" With the Horse Show but one week way Friday and Saturday, April 7 and 8 preparations are being made on every hand for the big two days' event and everywhere the pre diction runs that It will be the big geet and finest exhibition of fancy and blooded horses ever held In Western Oregon. The show will be held under the management of the Salem Horse Show Association. This association came Into being last spring, and held a show In the month of April. The how pleased every horseman who lartlrlpated In It and every man and woman who attended It, and the fait that the association is back of the show again this spring is a guarantee that It will give the same Widespread and general satlHfactton. Seats for MOO. The show will bo held this year on the same grounds as last year on Church street between State and Court. The council at Its last meet ing granted the association the priv ilege of using that street and next week will commence the work of rop ing It off and the erection of scats. The seats used last spring are in a good state of preservation and will be URed again. As there will be a far larger attendance this year, how ever, more will be needed and with the view of accomodating the mam moth crowd the association will have sufficient seats at the roped arena to seat 5,000 people. Within thlB roped arena the horses will be placed on exhibition and here the awards will be made by the Judgos. The rrogrum. The program will start off Friday morning with a parade of all the horses on exhibition. There will en ter Into the composition of that par ade every class of fancy and blooded horses and It will be a feature worth seeing it will be worth knowing Just what high classes of horses are pro duced In the famous Willamette Val ley. Led by a band the parade after passing over the principal Btreets of the city will lead to the exhibition grounds. There during the forenoon the horses will be on exhibition for the large crowd, and In the after noon the Judges will pass Judgment upon them and award the prizes. The second day will also start off with a parade and the exhibition grounds will be its destination. The Judges will not be able to make all the awards in the afternoon of the first day and will complete their la bors on the second. Horse Sale a TVInner. During both days from early morn ing until late at night there will be a horse sale In progress. This fea ture proved to be a winner at the last show. The purpose of the sale is to give the owners of horses who desire to sell them an opportunity to do so. Every man Interested in horses high grade ' horses, will be present at the show and many of them will desire to purchase horses. The sale Is Intended to bring the own er of horses who desires to dispose of them and the purchaser together. Last year many sales were made and as the exhibition of horses will be far larger this year the sales, will be far greater. (1,000 In Prfmlnms. There will be , $1,000 awarded in premiums $1,000 In prizes to the animals which the Judges pronounce the finest on exhibition. The com mittee on finance .has been canvass ing the city to secure this necessary amount and also the amount neces sary to carry on the show and it has succeeded. This liberal award of premiums has attracted owners of horses In every portion of the valley and they will bring their horses here to contest for them. Professor Wlthycombe and Profes sor Potter, of the Oregon Agricul tural College, will act as Judges dur ing the show. Both men have a thorough knowledge of horses know Just what qualities are needed to make up the perfect horse, and upon these their awards will be made. The association feels that it is par ticularly fortunate In securing the services of these two men as it Is a guarantee that all awards will be made fairly and on merit; and that means satisfaction to everybody con cerned. 3!any AninspinrnK The city council has granted to the association the street concessions for the two days and there will be amusements galore, amusements which will bring laughter to the Hps of the aged and young alike. The association has declined to grant con cessions to all fake concerns and the amusements on hand will all be of a high class order, of such a character that any one who pays the required admission will go away feeling satis. fled .that he has secured the worth of nls money. KVEItYBODY SEEMS TO BE INCORPORATING One hundred and thirty-four ar ticles of Incorporation, have been filed during the present month with Cor poration Clerk Wrightman, of the office of secretary of state, and It gives the month of March the dlstinc tion of being the banner In the his tory of the state in the filing of ar ticles of Incorporation. All of the 134 articles filed are for domestic corporations, and It is a splendid) testimonial! of the prosper ity existing in the state In general. Sine the first of the year over 400 articles of Incorporation have been filed. Two years ago the filing of that number In the course PASSING OF GEORGE LANSING YETEBAN OF THE CIYIL WAR, AND A SPLENDID CITIZEN, HE PIED THIS MORMXG AFTER AN ILLNESS OF SEVERAL MONTHS. George Lansing died this morning at Salem Hlspltal, after an illness of about six months. He has been at the hospital for three weeks, where he had the best of care. He was nearly 69 years old, his birthday coming on April 6th. Mr. Lansing came to. Ore gon in 1901, from Atlantic, Iowa, and bought a home of about 30 acres near Chemawa, where he worked at the Indian school as builder. He leaves a brother, Wm. Lansing, and widow and five children, one living in Iowa. He was a veteran of the Grand Army, and member of the A. O. U. W. in which he has $2,000 insurance. The funeral will be held from his late residence near Chemawa, on Sunday, at 2 p. m. Burial at Hayesville cem etery. Mr. Lansing was a hard working man, devoted to his family and friends. He was in all respects a model citizen in the common walks of life, never wronged a human being In thought or deed and has gone from this world beloved of all who knew him.
