ASKED THAT GEO. MEYERS BE PAROLED I We Are Now Building watcn uur1fiant Cirow As we go to press It Is learned the Judge Imposed nn Indeterminate sen tence. Backed by a petition containing the names of some three or four hundred people names of men serv ing state, county and city as officials, and of men ranking high In the city's business circles, Attorney Richard son, Kaiser and D'Arey this after noon submitted a motion to Judge Kelly, in which they ask that Judg ment on George Meyers, who was con victed of manslaughter for the kill ing of Night Patrolman Eckhart he suspended during good behavior. The conviction of Meyers occurmd the first of the week, and this after noon was set for the Imposing of sen tence. Vpon the conven'ng of court Attorney Richardson made the motion and presented to the court the peti tion. The pctltiorvirs in It say that the defendant heretofore has always been a law-abiding and Industrious citizen; that he Is not a natural criminal, and became Involved In the trouble for which he was convicted because of the lack of JudgnVot of the arresting officer, and that he has been punished sufficiently, and that to incan-erate him In the state prison would be but to degrade him and de feat his usefulness as a citizen. Attorney Richardson prisented an. thorltl8 to show that the court had the power to suspend sentence In such a case, and Attorney Kaiser reviewed the life of the defendant, and ad vancd other arguments to show that It was a proper case for the court to exercise such power. I rviTHii rnKKH i.kasko wihk.I Erie, Pa., Feb. II. Discovery of! the fact that no bodies we taken from the Scott mausoleum here, which was looted by ghouls, is today proving a puzzle to the shoals of de tectives trying to trace the depreda tors. Anxious to find some trace of the vandals, armed pollen and detec tives hid all last night In the ceme tery, but Jheir vigil was fruitless. The fact that aimfi of the silver ornaments of tiie smashed coffins were taken is about the only clue. In thu possession of' the police which ! holds out any promise of a solution of the mystery. Even this, however, has not foned all the Investigators to tho conclusion that robbery was the motive for the crime, as much silver was lrt, ' which easily could have been taken. - CN1TKD MESS LBAKKO Will. Reno, Nev., Feb. 11. News of an Indian massacre, of which four weal thy stockmen weila victims, reached here today. The victims .whose bod ies were found In Little Rock canyon, near Queen River, CaL, had been missing since January 19, wten they went out to look for stock In a storm-swept rgTon. They were Harry Cambron, John Lexgaue, B. Indiando and P. Erram-uspe. When the continued absence of the four men made It certain that evil had befallen them, searching parties i went out Wfdnesday from Constan-j gwlng the p,ace; iong tlme on the tia, uai., ana yesteroay in tne remote i canyon they came upon the bodies. I All the blankets and provisions of the murdered men had been takt-.n, and. j from the character of their wounds, ; there is little doubt that Indians had done the killing. This supposition was made more certain when ranchmen in the vloini ty were questioned. They declare that a band of nine hostile Indians had recently been in the vicinity, but had departed, leaving warnings that they were not to be followed, on pain of death. Immediarfi-Jy the murders were (lis. covered, a posse was organized, and at once took the trail of the hostile Indians. Messengers were also dis patched to send telegrams to all towns within the nojglon warning their sheriffs to be on the lookout for them Although the hostile Indians have a good lead, the size of their band makes it aJmost certain that the! balance, 6 per cMit.
