DAILY CAPITAL aOTJANAl KtLEM, OREGOJf, TUESDAY, JAXVARY 4, 1911. ' . : . T1GX 81TXX THE CLIMAX TO REACH US ON FRIDAY , sTB0 PLAV WITH A STRONG 'P1V. II 1NT1IE CAST WILL BE THE THE ATTRACTION AT THE OIilM I KIOAV EXT. -The Climax" wliicli will be pre yed at tli Grand Opera House on fritov, January 27, Is one of the prettiest little stories of the heart that was evr told upon the stage, lis hard to describe you might call it "the play tmit's different" and Tou'd be about right. ' it concerns four people. There Is a girl who has a great voice, a young musician who has a great love for her, an old teacher who has a great love' for both, i'-nd a young physician vho wants th" young woman for his wile. How there came an awful blight upon the singer's ambition and hew ii was lifted is the story and It is related in a way that grips the heart It lias been well said it is a great play for those who love music, but it Is a play for anyone who has a grain of sentiment in his or her makeup, and all of us have that much. There Is depth, feeling, pathos, power and appeal in "The Climax," nothing gaudy, nothing glaring, nothing of frippery or gush, hut a story that stirs emotion and sympathy and is of real gold all the way through. Prices 50c. 75c, $1.00, $1-50. ATHLETICS AM) OTHER THINGS AT WILLAMETTE! In an action of the student body of Willamette University sime time ago, an amendment was proposed to the constitution containing the fol lowing: That the managers of the different athletic teams be elected by a board of electors, consisting of two of the faculty, two of the alumni and two of the " W men. The object of this arrangement is to get compe tent managers, to cause unity and co-operation with the faculty and re tain the Interest and direct help of the alumni. The amendment will undoubtedly be passed by the student body. The position of manager is not be lts solicited very strongly by any one at this time, though the election Is not far off. It is almost certain that A. Flegel, Jr., of Portland, will be tha next manager, owing to his ability and popularity, both with the faculty and the students. The baseball dliamond Is almost covered with clay, and, with a little work, it can be rolled and dragged, and splendid diamond will appear. There promises to be a much bet ter team this season than Willamette has had for many seasons. The man ager has two good pitchers slated, and there Is good material for the other positions in school now. A good schedule is being fixed up, and a successful serjson is expected. The second year basketball team defeated the fourth year, "prep" team Ij a score of 5 to 4 yesterday after noon. IRS. MARTIN MUST SERVE SEVEN TEARS UNITED rftKSS LEASED WIRE. Newark, X. .T , Jan. 23.
