In a fast game yesterday after noon Willamette defeated Pacific University by a' score of 12 to" 0. The Willamette men were much too confident of victory at the beginning of the game. The result was that they were unable to score in the first half. In the second half Willamette awakened and made two touchdowns. The ball was about two feet from the Pacific goal line when the last quar ter ended, and another plunge by one of the Willamette men would have scored another touchdown. In the first quarter Pacific worked the for ward pass time after time on the local team, and almost the entire yardage which was made by Pacific was on their forward passes. Of the local men Cummins, perhaps, made the star runs, with Rader a close second. The entire line worked well, holding the pacific men on al most every play, and when the Forest Grove bunch succeeded In get ting the ball within six Inches of Willamette's goal line, the local fel lows held them there for three downs and were given the ball. The Wil lamette team expected to beat Pa cific about 40 to 0, but found the visitors much more clever and strong than they expected. With the defeat of Oregon by the Multnomah Athletic club yesterday, Willamette is placed very high In the standing of the teams of the Northwest. Since Or ego o won from O. A. C. by a score of 12 to , and Multnomah beats Oregon, after being trounced by Willamette to the tune of 29 to 0, the only thing that is to be regretted Is the fact that O. A. C. won .on a fluke play from the local team. If a game could be arranged with Oregon it would settle all dis pute. The . season at Willamette is finished, and it has been a good one for Willamette University. Next year Coach Sweetland will turn out a championship team.
