STUDENTS GAVE HILL STATUE A TOUCH OF COLOR t UNITED PRESS LEASED WIRE.) University of Washington,, Nov. 2. Students today disclaim all respon sibility' for the act of vandalism di rected at the bronae statue of James J. Hill, the railroad builder, which stands on a granite pedastal on the campus of the university ,and It Is de- clared that the green and yellow paint daubed over the statue Is the work of high school boys who live in the vi cinity. The presence of the 41111 statue on the campus is none too warmly re garded by the college men, and many of them are outspokenly in favor of having It removed. The bronze monument of heroic proportions was sight to make Great Northern railroad stock tumble head- -long. The railroad builder's beard was 'dripping with the brilliant colors, while his shoulders held a cape of ' paint. . i , ' .
