your food-lengthens your life
Physicians today are recommending Cottolene for dyspeptics, and others in a 1 'run-down"
condition. Never heard of them recommending lard for such a purpose, did you ? Cottolene
is a product of Nature, clean in source, making and manner of marketing. It makes food
which the most delicate stomach can digest.
Cottolene is far superior to lard or cooking butter for. all frying and shortening purposes.

Forty-four students last year re
ceived aid from the student loa I
fund of the U. of O. The total sum
available for loans from Ine fund Is
over $2,000. Loans of from $10 to
$100 are made, to students, bearing
Interest at five per cent, payable as
Boon as the student gets to earning
money. His and another signature
promising to pay are required as se
curity. The loan fund in the past hni
proven very helpful to worthy stu
dents in need of help to tide them
through the year's work. Without
its aid, in many instances, students
would have had to leave' the univer
sity before the completion of tho
year's study.
During the htntory of the fund,
s'nce It was inaugurated and fror.i
time to time augmented by private
gifts, there has been no attempt to
evade repayment of the loans on tlifl
part of beneficiary students. Be
cause it has been so helpful in tho
past, a movement will soon be put
on foot to Increase the fund mater
ially. The amount available for
loanB at the present time is barely
$100, and many times that amount
can be used beneficially during tho
present year.

Portland, Or., Oct. 19. Like a
huge ball of fire In the southeastern
skies a comet, oblong In shape, with
a Btralght tail suspended perpendicu
larly attracted the attention of thou
sands of Portand persons laBt night.
The strange body first made Its ap
pearance about 7:30 o'clock and grew
gradually In brightness, reaching In
tense brilliancy about 8:15 o'clock.
Persons who were able to secure an
unobstructed view of it at that mo
ment compared its brilliancy to that
of an arc light at long range.
To many spectators the object ap
peared several times larger than
Venus, and much brighter.
The direction of the body seemed
to be almost directly south! veering

The methods used by Peary In

"Under such conditions, even If
