pervisor he secured the construction
of nearly throe miles of graveled road
by popular subscription In his part
of the county, and did away with
2500 feet of bridging by making fills
on the ronds where he lives. Those
are Items of Immense Interest, to the
taxpayer. On route- No. 2, out of
Wrtodburn, where there was a half
mile of trestle, there Is now a fine
rock road. That kind of a man means
a groat deal to the taxpayers. The
taxpayers should see to it that he Is
put on tho commissioners' court of

speaking to a crowd of more thnn
2,000 persons here today Colonel
Roosevelt took occasion to vent his
spleen agnnst a street car niotormnn
who interrupted the proceedings
when he allowed his car to pass
through the middle of the crowd.
Roosevelt stopped short In. his
speech. Directing a finger at th
motorman nnd with a savage show
of teeth, the colonel said:
"Some persons haven't any sense,
even In Danville."
The motorman, whether he heard
the colonel's remark or not, quickly
put on the power and was out of
sight In short order.'!.
Colonel Roosevelt's speech was
one round of denunc.Iaton for cor
rupt politician and breakers of the
public faith. Referring to thp brib
ery scandals In connection with th
election of William Lorimer to the
United States senate, Roosevelt said
"I do not know whether Danville
Ingslators were among the Jnckpot-
ters In this case. If they were,
drive them out of office. It makes
no difference' whether Republicans
or Democrats are conoerned, who ar
what the senator Is the man must
be elected to office honestly."
Senator Beveridge, of Indiana,
Joined the Roosevolt party at Dan
ville and was greeted cordially.
Colonel RooKevolt speaks today In
several Indlnnn towns nnd cities on
behalf of Beveridge who Is a candi
date for re-election. In his itinerary
today are Included Crawfordsvllle,
Covington, Linden. Lafayette, Col
fax, Lebanon, ndlanapolls, Anderson,

Martinez, the two Mexicans who
were arrested and charged with the
crime of larceny from a store build
ing and caught with the "goods"
upon their person, pleaded guilty to
the charge contained In the Indict
ment In the circuit court at 2:30
this afternoon, before Judge Bur
nett, and were given an Indetermi
nate sentence of from one to 10
years In the ' penitentiary. They
were delivered over to Superinten
dent James of the penitentiary this
afternoon by Sheriff Minto.
