At Portland, business offices and a sales department are maintained in the Oregonlan Building. The company operates two steam boats on the Willamette River, the Eugeno nnd the Gray Eagle. These boats aro kept busy towing logs and pulp timber to tho papor mills at Oregon City. Tho company also owns a number of line gasoline launches. "From the standing timber to the builder direct ' is tho motto of thi3 corporation. In order to accomplish this result, it Is necessary for them to own somo of tho finest bodies of timber land In Polk, Lane -nnd Yamhill counties. Logging cajnps with largo forces of men aro opera ted at Black Rock on tho Little Lucklamuto River, and at Kings Valley, on the nig Luckiamute. Besides owning an Interest in tho Salem, Falls City and Western Rail road, which onables them to put logs direct from the mountains into all tholr sawmills, tho company owns and operates four miles of logging railroad, and omploys 12 steam log ging onglnos nnd three locomotives.
