Once more has Old Yamhill demon strated her ability to cope with all rivals, having captured the gojd med al at the A. Y. P. exposition recently lield at Seattle. A year ago it was -decided by the Yamhill Walnut Club of McMinnville to make an exhibit of English walnuts at Portland and following that to take the collection to Spokane and Seattle. The nuts were secured from different parts of the county and arranged in a tasty manner and eventually were vlowed by many thousands of people, many of whom heard the name of Yam liill and McMinnville for the first time. The result was this locality won the highest honors. This week 1he Walnut Club held a meeting and again decided upon male Ing a display of this famous shell fruit at Portland, at the horticultur al show, December 6-8. In fact, the! Some members of the club will no doubt accompany .the display to Portland to. see that full justice is done it, and proper care taken. After the Portland fair' all will be returned to this place and be kept in the club rooms here. Mc Minnville News-Reporter. Another new county road Is being sought by the Rosedale people by petition to the county court. The petition was filed yesterday after noon by Ada Jory and others, asking that the court establish a road di rectly through the thickly cultivated prune district from the intersection of the Rosedale county road to Pros pect Hill road. The court will prob ably give this matter consideration tomorrow or on Friday, the regular road day. Despite the ceaseless work of men who were detailed upon the case, no clew has. been obtained to the iden tlty of the men who Monday evening shot and killed Dave Fletcher at Lan der station, near here. Fletcher's body 'was found on the railroad tracks with two bullet holes through the skull.
