Yesterday afternoon the freight de
partment of the new Polk county rail
road opened up and Is now receiving
freight business between the Salem
end and points wjest. The new depot
near the Avest end of tho big steel
bridge has been completed and the
promoters of the new road are pre
pared to look after the wants of the
shipping public with their new ser
vice.
