old building which wns formerly used
for restaurant purposes has beon
moved n hundred fo-t to tho north
and east nnd It now stands facing
tho main walk leading to tho pavilion.
Tho old structure has been painted
and renovated within and without
and presents a far cleaner and inoro
sightly nppearance. The old Catholic
building has also been moved along
side of the roHtaurant and will bo
converted Into a i.eat eating house
also. lletwcon tho two restaurant
houses the board ..as planned an up
to date bungalow recep Ion nnd test
room. This building will bo com
pleted by fair time nnd a inoro serv
iceable structure could not have been
built by tho fair board. In this
building will bo Installed toilets,
wash stands and every convenienco
necessary for tho comfort of tho fair
visitors. It Is planned on tho bunga
low -stylo and will hi 45 by 35 feet.-!
A nursery for those wlio chance to
become III, or for tho caring for chil
dren has beon provided; a matron
will be In attendance and thoro will
bo a sepat ate resting apartment, n
comfortable fireplace in tho ladles'
apartment and tho iiioh'm will be pro-
vldcd with every convenience.
Tho board has dispensed with n
separate mnchlrcry haP this year.
The frame structure formerly hous
ing the wagons and o'her vehicles
has been torn down and 9000 feet
more floor apace has been add
ed to tho regular machinery building
adjacent to tho pavilion for the ma
chinery, which will not bo distributed
about tho grounds so much this year
The creamery buildings and dairy
buildings have all boon pone over
and cleaned up, together with the
barns, pavilion and poultry houses
In addition to the imiilti-v exhibit this
year the board has arranged for a
bench show of fnrmors' oolllo dogs.
This will be mado a feature of tho
fair and many entries nro expected
for tho event.
Tho exhibition and Judging of
stock will be carried on within an
oblong arena this your. A board wall
four feet high has been set up near
the stock barns, and Inside of this
arena, wh'oh Is to b envired with
sawdust, tho atocit will be brought
and Judged, a judge's stand has
been erected lit tho center of the
arena nnd tho entire view afforded
the Judges could not have been more
favorably planned.
Taking the efforts of th- stale full

from tho present outlook the exhibits
at thq stnte fair this year will far
exceed anything scon heretofore. Next
yonr tho board Intends to have con
structed eust of tho pavilion In the
large open plot the Oregon building
which now stands In the grounds at
the Seattle exposition and which Is
greatly admired by tlfo thousands
who have visited IMtittle.
The sewage matter at the fair
grounds Is the only thing which Is
now entiling the board any worry,
t ite company thnt wns to furnish the
piping ror the sower notified the sec
retary yesterdny that It could not
comply with tho order nnd that thoy
would have to turn it down. Secre
tary Welch Is now conferring, with
other firms in Portland and Seattle
nnd It Is probable that he can secure
enough drain pipe to finish the sewer
by fair tlmo.
