Curray could not be found, but tho
following note was loft in the room!
"Poor Luclle. Kid, wo die to
gether. A warning to mon In lovo.

The woman's body wus removed to
tho morgue nnd detectives nre search
lng tho city for Curray, dead or
nlivo, and to ascertain who "Luclle"
Is.

been rolonscd from San Quentin n

"'Kid, I have a girl with me.

"I rnpped on tho door nnd called
Currny out.
"I said to him: 'I want my room
to sloop In. You know you haven't
paid any lont and this Is my room.'
Ho said that was all right, that If I
would lot him utay until 5 o'clock
ho would got out I did not return
unt'l 2 o'clock thU morning. I tried
the door hut wns unable to got in.
"An I waa calling to Ourray, Mrs,
J. C. Morris, tho landlady, camo
along the hall and said she would
glvo mo another room 1 got up
shortly bo fore 11 o'clock tblB morn
ing and went to tho room. The door
was still looked nnd I climbed up
and peered over the transom. Thoro
I saw what I thought was my roora
mute. I throw a potato at him nnd

door. I was startled to see a wo
man's body with the throat out from
oar to oar and her head crushed In
by a basoball bat which was lying on

"That is all I know about it. I
took Curray Into my room and let

a cry and no one was aware that n

discovery. Tho dead woman Is good
looking and about 36 years of ago.
She appears to be Mexican or Span
ish Her clothes wero shabby and

Curray was sontenced July 3
1904, to serve ten years for killing
