lence of death, Instead of the noisy
fireworks that liad been planned for
today has filled with gloom tho houso
of Edward Benson, a confectioner,
whose wlfo was almost Instantly
killed last night by an olcctrlc Bhock.
Mrs. Benson was turning on an
electric light In the rear of her hius
band's Ice cream parlor when sho mot
her fate. She had grasped the brass
part of nn electric lamp, and at the
snmo time stepped on a part of the
floor that had been made wet by melt
ed Ice, thus forming a short circuit.
"1 am dying," she screamed, and
sank to tho floor. A physician worked
over her for an hour, but failed to
restore consciousness. The only evi
dence of the shock appeared on her
hand, the palm of which waB badly
burned. When Bho fell she took with
her tho electric wiring on tho celling.
