tered and disgusted burglar In this
city today who without doubt has
made a solomn vow novor to again
engage In his nefarious pursuit until
he has first ascertained that no ath
letic servant girl lurks tobout the
premises armed with baseball para
phernalia. Miss Clara Andorson, a servant In
the employ of Leo S. Schwabacher,
nresldent of the Schwabacher Hard
ware Company, was awakened lato
last night to flna that tne gas in
her room had been turned on with
tho evident intent to asphyxlato her
and to see a prowler In tho apart
ment of Mrs. Schwabacher, who was
absent from home, helping himself
to Jewels and monay from a dresser
Securing n baseball bat which be
longed to one of the Schwabacher
chlldion. Miss -.nuoreon advanced
upon the burglar and with a heavy
awing of tho bat sent tho Intruder
reeling against tho wall. Dropping
two Jewel cases which he hold In bis
hands, tho robber attacked the girl,
knocking her down with a blow of
his fist. The plucky servant arose
and renewed her attack, belaboring
the burglar so vigorously that be was
compelled to fleo without the plun
der. Tho value of tho Jewels left
behind Is placed at 12000.
The only loot secured by the man
was $30 In money taken from Mrs.
Schwabacher's purse.
