at his home at Dexter this morning,
nt 5 o'clock, at the ngo of 77 yea.'"
He was born In Indiana on May 5!.

In 1853 ho enmo across tho plan
to Orogon. He nt once settled In
Lnne county and took flip n donntloit
land claim. In lSfifi ho took up an
other clnim two nnd one-hnlf mile"
south of Dexter, whoro ho remained
for four years, when ho bought 1(50
acres, a part of tho John B. Ilnnnn
claim. This has slnco boon Mr. Pnr-
vln's home. He was engnged In the
trndo of n carponter nnd In tho mer
cantile buslno-B at different tlmo
during his life, besides conducting
his lnrgo farm.
In February, 1854, Mr. Parvln
married Sclcnlo Porker. She nnd
three children survive him. Tho chil
dren are: H. M. Parvln. of Dexter:
ftlrs, Ida Williams, of Dexter, and
Mm. Jennlo Shnfller, of Gettysburg,
S D.
Mr. Parvln was a conBorvatlvo busi
ness man, safo and reliable. Ho ac
cumulated a good deal of this world's
