annual memorial exorcises over their
dopartod brothors, nt tho Grand

2:30 o'clock, boforo a lnrgo audi
ence. Tho atago was decorated with
palmB and tho emblems of tho lodge.
Tho Elks orchestra, assisted by
Lily Stogo and Dolbert JJurton,
opened the program with tho "Mar
cla Punebro," by Chopin, as tho mem
bers entered and took places on tho
otago and In tho first rows of tho
auditorium.
Tho ritualistic exercises were con
ducted In an Imprcsslvo mnnner by
Exalted ltulor II. E. Albort, and with
them the roll of tho absent members
was called by Arthur S. Benson, sec
rotary of tho lodgo. Tho dead are:

tho meaning of tho order, and on
tho good which It has done, In beno-

Hon. P. II. D'Arcy, pnst exalted
ruler eulogized tho lives of tho do
parted brothers and dwolt nt some
length on tho life of Charles S. Viv
ian, the principal founder of tho
lodgo, and also upon tho threo local
members, Tllmon Ford, V. L. West
and Chnrlos Scholl, who have died
within tho mist year.
Mrs. W. Carlton dmlLh ""appeared
on tho program In two vocal num
bers, both of which she rondorcd in
her usunl delightful manner. In
tho first, "Avo Mario," from tho
"Cavallorla Rustlcann," she was ac
companied by Miss Lily Stego, vio
linist. Her second x mnnbor was
"Beautiful Isle," by Pearls. Prof.
Arthur von Jcsson presided at the
piano .through both numbors. Tho
Elks orchestra rendored four num
bers In an exceptionally splendid
manner.
Mrs. Sara Brown-Savago gavo an
oxcollent rending of "Thanatopals,"
tho Elks memorial poom.
Itov. Barr G. Leo gavo tho Invo
cation and tho boncdlctlon. Tho
program concluded with a selection
"Tho Friars," by tho orchestra.
Tho memorial committoo consisted
of Al II. Stolnor, Hal D. Patton, B.
O. Schucklng, Ed L. Baker and Roy
D. Byrd.
