Snn Francisco, Oct. 1. Because
he feared the disgrace of arrest, Au
gust Veen, 23 old Is dead hero to
day, as the result of bullet wounds,
self-inflicted.
Veen remarked that he "had tho
blues," as he left the dinner table
lau night. He went at once to his
room and five minutes later a shot
announced the fact that he had ended
his existence. He was dead before
his parents reached him.
Less than ten minutes later an of
ficer appeared with a warrant for th
arrest of young Veen Leslie Brown,
a chauffeur, charged that the young
man owed him $160 for automobile
rides.
