Van Fleet, who studied mlnerolo

ly entleavored to secure, funds with
which to develop some Nevada min
ing property he owned. When he
failed In that project he Bought em
ployment, but could not find any
thing to do.
Liquor caused the downfall of thu
dead jurist. He came to California
several years ago to break himself of
tho drink habit, but was unsuccessful.
