Savage, who Is charged with com
mitting perjury In his testimony in
the trial, and was arrested yesterday
afternoon In Grants Pass by Sheriff
W. P. Russell, of Josephine county,
Is today at Liberty under bonds ot
?500 furnished by Hal Patton. As
soon as tho warrant was Issued for
the arrest of Lathrop Sheriff Culver
notified tho sheriffs in tho sovernl
counties of the fact, and when Lath
rop was takon into custody in tho
southern town Russell at onco wirod
tho sheriff's office In this city.
Culver telegraphed tp H. .1. Workr
man at Grants Paso, who left Imme
diately with Lathrop for Salem. Tho
prisoner was met at tho depot by
Sheriff Culver at 5:30 o' clock this
morning and brought to tho sheriff's
ofuce, where ho remained until His
bond was furnished by Hal Patton.
Judgo Webster fixed tho bond at
$500, which waB accepted by police
Judge Moores, and Lathrop waB then
released.
The preliminary hearing In tho
enso was set by Judgo WebBter for
next Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock.
Lathrop has expressed his Intontion
to walvo examination at that time
and tnka tho case beforo the grand
Jury for first hearing.
