Had Not Been Squandered

Following Is tlio state treasurer's last report on the condition of the.
educational funds of this state. The ,'stae originally got just as much
kind from congress for education na Washington. Idaho, and other
'ihrestern states, but did not mako good uso of It. Great syndicates have
grabbed millions of acres at nominal prices and the land was virtually
squandered by the carelessness add corruption of grafting politicians,
and whero tho state university and ngrlculWrnl college should have a
million each, and ,tho common schools forty or fifty millions, they havo
to rely on a direct tax dn the property of the people, when the other
states named dorlvo their principal support from the sale .of the lands
