employed n8 a model by the artist,
but as he could not satisfactory

San Francisco, May 13. The
Greek-Americans of San Francisco
liavo presented the flagship Connestl-
cut, of tho Atlantic fleet, with a
handiomo loving cup to show their
appreciation of their adopted coun
try, Tho visitors wore received Tuob
dny by Rear Admiral Thomas in his
cabin whero he received the token on
behalf of the1 men and officers. In
making the presentation speech tho
sp'ttker alluded to the fnct that there
300,000 Greeks in tho United States,
all of whom are loyal to their adopt
ed country.
The cup is tho.most attractive ever
presented to the Connecticut. It U
about 20 Inches high, Under the
engraved flags of tfio United States
and Greece l this InscrlpUon;
"Presented to tho flagship Connect-
in, with greetings to the United
States naval fleet from the Hellenic
colony of San Francisco, 1908."
A number of tho followers of the
Salem Trl-Clty bunch declnrc the lo
cals will Btep off a winning boat In
one of the games, at least, here next
Saturday and Sunday whon the bunch
of young whirlwinds from West
Portlnnd and tho Chorry Pickers
bump into each other. Some of the
skeptlcnl fans, who investigate be
fore saying "money talks," have
taken a few half-stltchos In their
P'irso trlngr until a good view of
the visitors can bo hnd.
Wonder whero thnt man Harmon
from the Southern League is keeping
hlmse'f? Several of tho Trl-Clty
managers claimed to have n cinch on
that much talked of pitcher, but so
far ho has failed to put In his ap
pearance. Come to think of it, there
aro some really good ball teams be
tween Oregon and Texas, whoso
managers pay a good salary for pitch
ers.
The FrakcB aro noted for fielding
their positions without booting the
ball nil over the Jot. So Is Alblna (?)
"Chet" Bowen, tho left whip
pitcher for Woodburn, has got away
with two shut-out gnmefl this sea
son. "What do you know about that,
you local fans?" Bowen lives hero
nnd works hero, but plays ball with
our Woodburn friends.
Its nbouftlmo for that home run
sign to be nailed up on the outfield
fenco on tho local leaguo grounds,
with n good prize advertisement on
it for tho ono who slnrames the hide
over the designated Bpot. No bark
garden drives have cone over tho
fence yet, but. some player will con
nect right one of these days hard
enough to place it out In the tree
tops.

The

of fhe

i
It was too good to keep. Winks flew thick and fast about the
grocers'. As a result all those sample packages of Kcllogg's
Toasted Corn Flakes went, in a hurry.
Now the call for full size packages is enormous. We can't
begin to fill the demand; Everybody who was fortunate enough
to receive a sample wants more.
Kellogg's Toasted Com Flakes is simply irresistible. There is
something about the taste which is lacking in every other break
fast food. There are many imitations, but they imitate in
name only. 1 he. taste the only taste belongs exclusively to
Kellogg's. Your grocer has it in large packages 1 0 cents.
