San Francisco, xjan. 23. "There
is not a slnglo dairy-in San Francisco
or any outside dairy supplying milk
to San Franolsoo, the milk of which
Is roally pure and freo from ba

R. Ward, direotor of the state hy

opening conference of tho orusade
for pure milk, Instituted by the Cal
ifornia Club and a numbor of med

tha California Club.
"There is not a single dairy in
San Franolsoo the cows of which to

continued.
"There Is no surer method of Im

Into tho blood of babies, than by the
transmission of bovine tuberoulosia
through ordinary milk and oream.
"In all San Francisco there Is no
way of obtaining medically pure milk
for infants or for young mothers at
the maternity hospitals or otherwise
still under the care of maternity

Tho business men of tho city held
an enthusiastic meeting In tho Board
of Trade rooms last evening for tho
purposo or raising the balance of Old
Willamette's endowment. Many of
thosp who had already given doubled
their donations, and many othora
signified their willingness to do all
in their power to rnlso tho required
amount. It was tho sense of ttho
meeting that tho $100,000 fund
Bhould bo realized during next month
nnd that Salem should do Its part.
There will probably bo hold a mnsa
mooting within a week or so, at
which tlmo Dishop Hamilton or
Bishop Mooro will probably address
tho citizens. This will bo followed
by a campaign which will doubtless
bo successful in raising tho amount.
It hiiB boon announced that tho
now Knton building, which will bo

buildings which aro proposed nnd
aro assured, If Salem shows itho
