As Indicated In Tho Journal Sat

Tho attendance, tho management,

Farewell to Gambling.
Cutting out pool selling wna a

tho races wore pulled off with moro

tho start tho horsemen predicted

nnd tho result was honest racing,
Tho ownors of tho horses wont nftor

minimum. Tho reputation of tho
Snlom track for fair raco moots has
been rnlsed to a high standard, and
tho crowds In future will know thnt
tho speed contests conducted under
tho auspices of tho stato aro gonulno

gambling purposes nnd to rob tho

and a dlsgraco to see hundrods of

publicly of tholr earnings, with tho
state as a participant In tho plunder.
No liar Next Year,

Tho charges of grafting aro not nu

A Ten-Day Fnlr.
Thero is a growing sentiment for
a ton-day fair. Tho stato Is growing.
Tho exhibits aro growing. Tho ut

tho fair ton days nioro timo would bo
given to gottlng rendy, nnd moro
peoplo could seo tho whole fair, nnd
thoro would bo less rush and Jam.
Tho fair is not, run primarily for
tho money there Is to bo made at It.
iiio prices or admission aro very
low, compared to othor shows of
this kind. But with low prlcos, with
good management, with moro atten

Tho Pavilion ..KntertulnmentH.
Those wore of a far bettor quality

long-winded speeches, and a great
deal of amusomont. Prof. Horltago

on Saturday night as a beautiful
finale. Tho greatest laugh-producer
of all was tho famous Original South

This Afro-American combination has
