a pass. Mr. Hedges returned It. No

would Mr. Hedges vote. In other
words tho Portland Telegram asked
Mr. Hedges tho direct question as to
his sentiments on tho anti-pass sub
ject. Senator Hedges was at his desk In
Oregon City getting ready to answer
this Clrculnr letter when Edwnrd Ev
erett Drodlo, tho Clackamas county
representative of tho Portland Jour
nal entered his olllce. Hostdos being n
