who lives in n small cabin on tho

Tho youngest was four weeks old.
How many grown-ups there were in
her fnmllv no one knows. Thus It

Although Henrls' family grew
yearly ho never enlarged his one-room-and-loft
cabin. Ho declared
thnt tho 18x20 foot structure could
comfortably accommodate 14 people,
and that when a child reaches the
age It was time for It to go to work.
As fast as ono went away another

but it wns not until Deputy Sheriffs
Minto and Ssch went ont from Sa

was pacified and disarmed.
Tho Indians at Chemawa were at
prayer when the trouble came. It
was durinc the Sunday school hour
that Mrs. McKlnnon gathered up her
progeny and set out for the tepees
of her native Klamath.
Several neoole connected with the
school endeavored to stop her, and
to prevent her placing the children
on the train. She wjilpped out a
huge revolver, and with numerous
oaths, swore sho would kill the first
person who attempted to lay hands
on herself or children.
For awhile consternation reigned
at Chemawa. In an Incredibly short
tlmo tho several hundred llttlo In
dians left their Bibles nnd hymn
books nnd gathered at the depot. The
instructors and guards came, too,
and all tho people living in tho vi
cinity wero soon on hand, but no one
could disarm the infuriated aborig
lnee. The superintendent telephoned to
the sheriff's offlco and to Justice of
tho Peace Daniel Webster, a warrant
was procured, and the sheriffs went
to tho Indian school as fast as pos
sible. They at onco arrested the wo
man and turned her over to the su

mainder of tho day was ns quiet as a

Sho was allowed to remain at the
school under tho promise not to raise
any disturbance, and sho was put on
the next southbound train, nnd sent
on her way to her California homo.
Mrs. McKlnnon has a grlovance

year ago sho made application In the

They wero placed in charge of the
superintendent, nnd everything wns
lovely until nbout six months n
when Mrs. McKlnnon wrote an Im-

the Indian school. Tho girl was an
acquaintance of the McKinnons, and
was from the same reservation. Tho
letter wns of such a nature that It
would get her Into trouble with tho
postal authorities If titer him knn.n
