berlain has carried tho stato by a de
cisive majority. His list of counties
includo Multnomah, where, in a count
of 11,000 votes, be has a lead of 408,
and at the samo ratio means 800 major
ity. Clatsop, 200 majority, Malheur
and Baker, 000; Linn, 400; Yamhill,
250; Grant, 150; Marion, 100 to 500;
Union, 000; Wasco, 250; Umatilla, 100;
Josephine, 100; Douglas, 200.
Lato returns show that Word is in,
the lead for cherlff. Indications point
to his election. All Republican candi
dates in the county, except tSevents, for
sheriff, are elected by big majorities.
The Republican legislative ticket won
