FOOTBALL
RALLY
The first high school football rally
ever held in Salem was hold oa the
school grounds of the Bast school last
night. A hnge bonfire was built, and
around this gathered scares of stu
dents, to show the members f the team
that they had groat coandenee ia them
and also to instill into the team some
of that spirit which makes football
aaoh a famous game, and without which
no team can hop to win.
Speeches wore made, songs suag aad
yells given. A great deal of enthusi
asm was manifested, aad. altogether,
it was a vary successful rally ia every
particular.
If the members of the team retain
their spirit until this afternoon, the
Portland boys will realise that sumo
