its kind ever assembled for a world's
fair. In accordance with tho exposi
tion's policy, to make tho displays at
the Western World's fnir illustrative of
the processes of manufacture, rather
than mero collection of finished mate
rials, tho petroleum exhibit will in
el udo the crude materials, tho finished
nrticle, and all tho by-products manu
factured from it, so as to give a com
plete nnd enmprehonsivo idea of the
magnitude of tho business to people not
familiar with tho oil-producing indus
try. Besides the displays already men
tionpd, there will bo exhibits of rnarblc,
granite, terra cottn, slate, qoda and
minerals of all kinds tnken from the
different sections of tho state. Tho
whole will bo attractively arranged, nnd
tho oro displays will bo shown in glass
cuseH. The new ruling, by which stntes
lire enabled to honso their exhibits in
their stnto buildings, will mnko it pos
slblo for Cnliforninns to boo what their
stnto has to show in tho mineral line,
without having to senrch for it among
tho hundreds of displays from all over
tho world in tho Palace of Mines and
Metallurgy.

Old Pioneer Dead.
